Surge in Traffic and Troops

February 3, 2007 by Stefan Didak 12 Comments

Web StatisticsToday I noticed, while looking at the web logs, that there has been a tremendous increase in traffic generated by the Home Office and FAQ pages. I knew that for some reason it has been linked to a lot and draws a steady number of visitors but the traffic over the past few days is off the scale. Just over a 24 hour period of Feb 01 to Feb 02 the logs show a total of 19.355MB got served. 19GB of traffic? Wow. Most of the traffic didn’t show its origins so I’m not clear on that. Two weeks ago some 4.5GB was served mostly to visitors from Poland (all the *.pl domains in the log) but as of the past two days traffic is coming from all over the globe. Maybe I should start a reverse tracking page that automatically keeps a list of all the incoming links. 🙂

It appears you have been added to StumbleUpon and the likes. This, I’m assuming, is where a lot of your traffic is coming from. I envy your office/lifestyle by the way :).

I found your home office on overclockers.com.au. If you get a chance sign up to the forum (one of the biggest IT forums in Australia) you’d probably like it there.

    Welcome, visitors from down under!

I was just looking at the web logs and I guess overclockers.com.au is indeed a popular site. The logs say there were 1537 unique visitors from that source, which makes up about 15% of the total traffic today. And judging by the meter that is still going up that number is probably going to be even more. You guys are overclocking my webserver, is what! 🙂

A flight sim?! Now that would be the fastest way to get onto a no-fly list these days I believe. 🙂
